Once again Duo Diez gave a display of amazing virtuosity, musicality and energy, gratefully acknowledged by the audience

Duo Diez is an innovative and eclectic musical collaboration between guitarist Dimitris Dekavallas and violinist Violeta Barrena. The chosen name for the Duo originates from the spanish word "diez" which means ten, the number of their combined strings.

Since meeting at the Royal Academy of Music as students, they have both developed interesting and varied international solo careers. A shared interest in playing and promoting Spanish, Ladino and Latin American classical music signalled the start of Duo Diez in 2012.

Their repertoire encompasses a wide range of styles from Bach, Mozart, Schubert to Sarasate, Piazzolla and Villa Lobos.

Individually they are the recipients of many prizes and awards and have performed for the Royal Family, The Pope, and the Archbishop of Canterbury at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, St David’s Hall, Bolivar Hall, The Forge, the Roundhouse and the Royal Albert Hall. Radio and TV appearances include BBC Radio3, ITV1, ITV2 and BBC1.

They have performed and toured in the UK, Greece, Spain, USA, Belgium, Chile, France, Romania, Italy, Mexico, Oman, Azerbaijan, Austria, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Australia.

They released their debut album in November 2015 with Demerara Records featuring their unique arrangements and very own compositions. It has been received to critical acclaim and played on Radio stations all over the world.

Violeta plays on a 1735 Sanctus Seraphin violin kindly on loan from Derek J. Croome. Dimitris is sponsored by D’Addario & Company, and plays on a Greg Smallman 2008 guitar.
